The Artistic Freedom Center, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501c3 organization, is dedicated to the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression in the developing world. We believe that undue censorship and persecution of artists is antithetical to peaceful societies and human development. AFC works toward a world where artists everywhere can freely express themselves; where all sectors can exercise their human right to freely access and appreciate concepts communicated through creative processes, including music, film, performing and visual arts. We take a stand for those who are unjustly silenced, intimidated and censored around the world.
AFC understands that the exercise of freedom of expression carries with it special duties and responsibilities. Chief among those are:
- Respect and tolerance of the rights or reputations of others;
- Condemnation of any advocacy of national, racial or religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.
